Shimano's 1x11 drivetrain offers DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ for efficient chain management. It provides superior chain retention, lower noise, and increased durability. While the 2x11 systems include DYNA-SYS11, which improves drivetrain efficiency by creating a more closely spaced front gearing range paired to a 11-speed cassette.
Special gear teeth function
Shimano’s DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ is a special gear teeth profile designed for modern mountain biking. It gives more chain retention and smoother pedalling – even over bumpy terrain. Chain retention reduces abrasion and chain wear.
Shimano’s next generation 11-speed MTB drivetrain
Designed with both XC and aggressive trail riders in mind, DYNA-SYS11 brings enduring performance thanks to smart materials and enhanced drivetrain stability due to the special derailleur and chainring designs.
11/40T: best option for a 2X11 drivetrain, most efficient in cadence (less cadence drop)
11/42T: mid-range cassette, good for (medium) steep/long climbs
11/46T: maximum range for single speed drivetrain
Chain ring options: 30T, 32T, 34T & 36T
Two derailleurs, one shifter
The front derailleur reads the rear derailleur’s position and automatically executes front shifts. Shimano’s SYNCHRONIZED SHIFT improves efficiency by minimising time spent on smaller cogs. In other words: one shifter operates the front and rear derailleur.
